今、娘は当時の私と同じ年齢になりました。彼女はカメラを眺めたり、友達の写真を撮ったり、散歩中にベビーカーに座りながら人々を撮影したりするのが好きです。私は、彼女が自分の目に映る世界を写真に収めてほしいと思っています — 謎めいた大人たちがいて、すべてがとても大きく見えるような世界を。

私は、かつて私が父のカメラを手にしたときに感じたあの感情を、彼女にも感じてほしいのです — そして彼女の心の中に、その気持ちとこの瞬間を、私と同じように大切に残してほしいのです。

I remember the first time I picked up my father’s camera - a dark and heavy object with mirrors, buttons and levers. It came to life when I armed the shutter and pressed the release button. I felt vibrations in my hands, listened to the shutter sound.

Now my daughter is the same age I was back then. She enjoys touching the camera, taking pictures of her friends, and photographing people while sitting in her stroller during our walks. I want her to capture the world as she sees it — a world full of mysterious adults and everything so big around her. I want her to feel the same emotions I once felt, holding my father’s camera in my hands — so that she can keep those feelings and this moment in her heart as much as I do…
